I thought all the players and manager were totally professional and respectful with the media and public last season, befitting of Rangers employees. Barton arrives and from day one starts shooting from the lip, antagonising and causing controversy when it wasn't necessary. You can just about get away with that if you can deliver where it matters, on the park. Barton hasn't. He's a loose cannon we can do without. MW would be doing everyone a favour if he got rid.

There is no doubt Kranjcar has ability and he definitely is an option to come off the bench when the game has slowed a bit. Have to say I haven't been very impressed with Barton so far. Don't watch much English football so hadn't seen a lot of him before he arrived. From comments on here, I was expecting a bit of a midfield terrier and/or ball-winner but don't think he is either of those. Maybe hoping for too much but looking forward to seeing Matt Crooks get fit and have a run in the team. He looks a big unit and if he turns out to be a solid ball-winning defensive midfield, it may allow the other midfielders and forwards to commit to pressurising teams higher up the park (similar to role Dom Ball played in last year's semifinal).

If there has been a bust up, for Barton to be singled out, you would have to presume he went over the top in some way or, probably more likely, refused to let it go and shake hands afterwards. Quite honestly, based on his performances for us so far, I won't be losing a lot of sleep worrying about it.

I agree that loss of confidence is likely to be an issue. When you are losing soft goals, it must be hard to totally commit to a high pressing game. Barton and Kranjcar haven't played well but I think more than that, neither is suited to playing a high intensity/tempo game, at least from what I've seen of them so far.

I think he is spot on with his comments. We are far too negative and it holds back our game.

Yep. Classic was the title party in 1999 when their fans and players completely lost the plot, assaulted the referee, jumping of stands, etc. Our misdemeanour, our team formed a huddle to celebrate in front of our own fans, 2-3 minutes after the final whistle. On the basis of that, they have constantly referred to it as the old firm shame game ever since.
-
Since Rangers won the league at a canter in the season they refer to, the point you could reasonably take from this story is that there is along way to go and you would be fool to write us of this early, even after a dodgy start to the season. Of course, that point would be lost on the DR in their obvious attempt to shit stir.

Not condoning the damage caused but you are kidding yourself if you think that if it hadn't happened the media would have focused only on their behaviour. They would have concocted something against us so they could 'balance' any criticism of their favourites. They always do.

No Matt Crooks. Take it he is still injured?

Not a mention of this outrage on BBC news website. When a news organisation places more weight on a vandalised toilet than a desecrated war memorial, they really have lost the plot.

Remember watching Capucho give them the absolute runaround when he played for Porto. Looked a player and, on the back of this, was really excited when he signed up at Ibrox. What a let down.

Accept where you're coming from on this. Just think if we are going to go down this route, we have to realise how it will be turned against us. If we were to consider doing this, I would take a more considered approach. Keep things as normal for the next game at Ibrox but then refuse to accept tickets for the following game at Parkhead, make it clear we are asking our fans not to attend this and any further games at Parkhead in the interest of their safety (after the events of Saturday). In the light of our fans no longer attending the away games, we can then cut their allocation for Ibrox to the minimum we can get away with (none if possible). i no longer go to away games so the above will not effect me but I accept it will stick in the craw of some of our fans who want to go to these games.

Not sure about banning them. Not because I don't think they should be but because I remember how a similar ban played out 25years ago. As on that occasion, the compliant media will portray them as being the wronged party (when they clearly weren't) and will make them out as poor David going into the big bad lions den. They will play the victim card big style, it will be used to spur on their team, and if they get any sort of result it will be portrayed as a victory for football. Thats what happened in the early 90s. DM was so chastened by the affair he never raised his head above the parapet again.

I agree, I cannot understand how our support has allowed them to take ownership of this word/chant. Would love to see Ibrox stand to a man/woman at the New Year game and give them a 10 minute rendition to set them right.

Colin Stein gets my vote. Iain MacDonald was best debut I have seen from a young player.
