Jim Denny Billy Urquhart to name two.

They were not good, but they played for the jersey, and gave their all. They are not like some of the players who care only about how much money our club would pay them.

Lots of people posting on here have the opinion that what they say goes. FACT. I have followed the Gers for 50 odd years through good and bad . Some of you youngsters don't know what bad times are. I've been at ibrox when there were only 6 or 7 thousand there. The team was poor and results even more so. However I still made the 300 mile round trip every other week to watch and support MY TEAM! ONCE A RANGER ALWAYS A RANGER. FUCK ALL THE HATERS AND THE POPE!

Can't argue about the op following the team, but we don't want to return to 6/7 k crowds again do we, they way we play at times it could happen.

No mate he was a wee blonde winger who got crocked at Dens park IN the 70's. He was supposed to be the next big thing. In saying that you may be right.

McDougal was highly rated at the time. Remember one game against them we won 3-0 at Ibrox and he was outstanding . Not sure how his career went though.

I've been watching The Rangers from the 60's and been through some really bad times, during steins rule it was hard to watch but as an earlier poster said we did have good teams then and we were competing it's just that that lot had an exceptional team.

Fast forward to the early 80's and that was a brutal time to support the Gers, no matter who we signed it made no difference we were mingin, and I never imagined it could have gotten any worse but now now we are in the present and the last 4/5 years I can honestly say have got to be the lowest point ever to be a supporter of this institution we all love.

As you can see I've watched The Rangers for a long long time and I'm more than a little pissed of at the OP's opinion that the young supporters of today don't know what it means to know hard times, well Jesus fuck if these are not hard times then I don't know what else qualifies, these youngsters are willing to support the team in the numbers that they do and I take my hat off to each and everyone of them, some of them have never seen a good Rangers team and yet they are still willing to keep the traditions going.

Sometimes us old cunts just like to berate the kids just for the sake of it, but I prefer to give credit where credit is due, keep up the good work kids.

The bad times just make the good times much better and makes you appreciat them longer.

I'm 20 years old and im more than confident i've witnessed the worst Rangers side's in history over the last 4 years.

Obviously i cant speak outwith my experience, but i think you're absolutely mental if you dont think these last few years have been the most painful for our support. Do you realize how close we were to actually not having Rangers in our lives any more? Supporters were going to bed at night not knowing if their team would still be there in the morning. Fuck Celtic doing 9 in a row and fuck them winning the european cup or any other dominant spells they've had. Whether we like it or not and for all i hate everything that club stands for - like ourselves they are a massively successful football club. When 2 absolute monster football clubs share a city it's inevitable that you're going to have to learn how to lose sometimes. 2012 was different, it doesn't get any grimmer than that. It's testament to our supporters love for this club that we even survived, and when there's that much investment from fans its inevitable that we're not going to accept what we're seeing right now.

I've said it on here before on here and i'll say it again. Be very, very careful about lowering your expectations for this club - with modern football as it is, you'll be surprised at what we actually have left if we do.

The early 80's were pretty shite, but living though Jock Stein's era was horrendous.

Panic decisions made by Management after the Berwick defeat made the "Jock Stein" era more horrendous than it ever had to be.
