New first team scout

Good stuff although another from the Burnley/Watford/Brentord circles that we seem to occupy. Hopefully we have a scout out on the continent soon if we don't already

Hopefully he's got a passport and not afraid of flying!

Kieran Scott, ex Wolves & Burnley has been appointed as first team scout.

Can only assume he will be working under McPartland.

Hopefully the start of a bigger, wider reaching scouting department as well.

Appointing a first team scout only a few weeks before what could be a vital window for MW & his team seems a little short sighted to me.

However, it's a good to hear we're now building a scouting team

Hope he is successful in finding the sorts of players who would make a positive difference at Ibrox.

Seems to me there has been talk of rebuilding the scouting system for a long long time. Is this appointment part of the end game in that rebuilding or are we still at the early stages? If its still at the early stages I guess the question to the CEO (or whatever title he is) and King and the Board is how come?

Anyhow, hope the new scout can put some good players our way soon.

His first role as a first team scout. Everywhere else seems to have been academy work.

I expect us to sign a player or 2 he took to they academies that failed to live up to their potential.

Get the feeling this (especially Burnley link) suggests MW is backed and is here for the long haul.

Remember those 3-4 years under McCoist where the only scouting system used was Football Manager and highlights of Kevin Kyle's career goals

Maybe he's working as Part of a long term plan - like the next few years and not just a few weeks - these first steps have to start some place

I don't think he is. Wee Stevie is a Football Manager legend.

Was thinking that myself.

Hopefully this guy can spot us a few gems and the board back him and the manager with money to buy them.

MW has already shown that he's no Brian Clough, in terms of identifying rejects & turning them into European Cup winners.

If this is to be the way forward, we're in for a lot more of the same.

Don't know how he's not managed to turn them into European cup winners yet.....

Long term planning I agree with but short term dramatic improvement is needed too.

If we can get both, and the recruitment process proves a success, it's hopefully another strong step forward for us.

I think that some of you, younger Bears, have been spoilt growing up, supporting Rangers. By young, I mean under 35 years of age. We have to learn to be a bit more patient. Every other thread I read is full of 'Moaning Minnies'. We're not gonna win the title this year, we might not even finish runners up, or get into Europe. Next season is when we need to be challenging for the title, win a cup, qualify for Europe. Even then we might not win anything, finish runners up. But, as long as we're improving each season, getting closer to them, we need to keep supporting our club.

We will get back to the top, it might not be as quickly as you'd like, just as long as it's before those manky, horrible, smelly, bastards, get ten in a row. If they do the unthinkable, and win ten in a row, the first team manager/head coach, should be shot, and hung from the corner, of the roof, of the Sandy Jardine stand, as a reminder to all future managers that we don't take failure lightly.

Be patient Bears! Keep believing, and keep a look out for Warburtons magic hat, as it's gone missing.

There's a huge difference to do with times.

Back then cash was nowhere near as big as it is now. Money has ruined football imo

There is, but the principle remains the same - taking players who were unwanted & turning them into a unit.

Can't say any of ours from last season look really comfortable with the step up & as for the guys who've been brought in to supplement the original batch - well, it's all been said, hasn't it?

And fully agree with your point about the money.

Sorry for not being overwhelmed when we pick up a guy who looks to be on his 5th post in as many years.

For me scouts and recruitment guys tend to be fairly anonymous. Really don't know much about any of them including this one.

Just think there's an unnecessary negativity with some about the club and this recruitment which on the face of it should be seen as a positive step by the club.

5 posts in as many years? How has he got on in them? What is said about him by previous employers? What wete the reasons for moving on? How is he seen and respected within the game? Does this make him worse than someone who has been shite or average in one role for 5 years?

Or is it because it's another indication that MW is backed and will be here longer than some hope for......?
